Exciting times here — last week we just finalized Release #2: Data Breakpoint. This means that our alpha version of our decentralized cloud gaming network is up and running!

That “decentralized” part? That means from now on, no middlemen taking a cut and no massive, energy-hungry data centers. Instead, we’ve launched an initial distributed mesh of nodes (yep, that could soon be you) delivering AAA games to any device and channel — either via your browser or, recently, even via platforms like Telegram. It’s a big deal.

Our alpha network now supports game streaming from our decentralized infrastructure, but there’s still a catch: we’re not distributing the stream links yet. Why? The network still needs to reach global scale or at least large enough coverage before we start sharing public links. We’re getting there, but patience, my friends.

Why Decentralized Cloud Gaming Matters

Most cloud gaming networks today are centralized. They rely on big data centers, fancy servers, and endless racks of equipment, mostly controlled by a few major providers. It’s costly, it’s energy-intensive, and it’s limited in scalability. We’re taking a different approach: decentralized cloud gaming, where everyday users — who we call “node operators” — run the network. Here’s why that matters:

  1. Lower Costs: No need for massive server farms. The infrastructure is distributed across nodes run by individual operators with specialized gaming rigs, so we’re not burning cash (or the planet) and saving more than 93% in rendering and streaming costs.
  2. Scalable by Design: As more nodes join, our network capacity grows. No need to build new data centers or wait for hardware upgrades. The network expands as fast as the community does.
  3. Community-Owned: You don’t just play on YOM — you can help power it. Anyone can join as a node operator, contributing to the network and earning for their efforts.

Note that our decentralized network isn’t just for gaming. We’re building an infrastructure that can support everything from high-end games to interactive and immersive (metaverse) experiences. Each release gets us closer to a global, scalable network.

What We Built in Release #2 (Alpha Network)

With Release #2, we’ve set up the alpha network and gotten everything working end-to-end. Here’s what that actually means on a technical level:

  • Orchestrator Data Model: We created data models to manage everything nodes need to do, from game installations to runtime instructions. This “brain” of the network ensures each node knows exactly what tasks to execute, when, and how.
  • Capacity & Difficulty Scores: We introduced capacity and difficulty scoring to evaluate each node’s capabilities and match tasks accordingly. Nodes earn based on the difficulty of the work they complete. This is essential for fair and scalable network billing.
  • Middleware and Session Reporting: Middleware now sends status updates every 5 seconds, so we’re always aware of node health. We also track metrics like FPS and VRAM allocation per game session, helping us fine-tune performance.

Looking Forward to Release #3 (Beta Ape)

Next up is Release #3: Beta Ape, scheduled for December, 2024. This release is all about scaling the network, onboarding our first external test nodes, and rolling out more features to take our decentralized cloud gaming network to the next level. Here’s what’s on deck:

  • Network Expansion with Test Nodes: We’ll be onboarding around 50 test nodes with our community and some of our partners to test the network at a larger scale. These aren’t simulated or fake (delegated ) nodes that only do some status monitoring — these are real people with real hardware helping us stress-test the infrastructure running and streaming real games.
  • Public Monitoring (stats.yom.ooo): Launching as part of Beta Ape, this site will let anyone check on network performance, token redistribution, and burn rates. Total transparency. Additionally, Node operators will be able to see network health, their node’s performance, and payouts in real-time. This transparency is key to building a strong operator community to prepare for the public net release in Q2 2025.
  • Preparing for Partners Projects: We have several potential projects and games lined up to be deployed on YOM, and the upcoming release will lay their foundation. We’re making sure the network is robust enough to handle it. And yeah we prefer starting slow — with 1 or maybe 2.

And here’s the quick rundown of the commercial and marketing activities that will take place:

  • Pre-Sale: Starting in December, we’ll be offering 1,000 nodes in what we’re calling the Tier 0 — “Genesis Series,” with early-bird pricing at $849.50. These nodes will be available via various launchpads we are now talking with. Early adopters get first dibs.
  • Main Sale: After the initial sale, we’re planning a larger release of 9,000 nodes starting from February 2025, priced at $1,000 each. If you want in, keep an eye out for announcements.
  • Public Mint: In Q2 2025, you can expect to publicly mint the NFT and stake it to receive your plug ‘n play node disk. This is the moment you will start making a lot of revenues.

And since each node is an NFT, they’re tradable. You can sell, transfer, or hold onto them as the network grows. Every transaction on the network burns a small percentage of $YOM, making it deflationary over time. Good for long-term value.

Interested in being one of the testers? We’re currently looking for testers to help push the network’s limits. You can apply here: Tester Sign-Up. The amount of spots is limited and we will opt for geographically dispersion in combination with your participation in app.yom.ooo/rewards.

Decentralization, Ownership, and Income

In short, we’re building a decentralized infrastructure that’s owned and powered by you, and not another P2E token or lightweight node project with hyper inflationary economics or/and low real payouts. Our nodes are doing the real heavy lifting. Here, you’re part of the network. You run the network yourself. And you get compensated for it.

The reality is, we’re focusing our budget on fundamentals rather than hype and paid influencers. We’re in this for the long haul, and we believe investing in solid infrastructure will reward those with the patience to see it through.

Whether you’re looking to play AAA games on any device or run a node to earn a real passive income, YOM has something for you. Decentralized cloud gaming is here, and it’s only getting bigger.

Hold strong. Good fundamentals will ultimately benefit those who believe in the vision. So stay tuned for Release #3: Beta Ape.

We’re just getting started.

About YOM:

YOM is pioneering the first cloud gaming infrastructure (DePIN) that is streaming games, white-label experiences and entirely new entertainment formats at scale to any URL or streaming platform, including Telegram. Leveraging a distributed network of gaming machines, YOM offers global low-latency near-zero costs cloud gaming to any device and channel, effectively eliminating the need for dedicated game consoles (Xbox, Playstation). The project is backed by a network of advisors and firms such as Outlier Ventures and Borderless Capital.
