Introduction
It’s time for another community update on all the progress we’ve made for the past couple of weeks. It’s been a little bit over than a month since we announced our re-branding. From launching our new website to bringing the YOM tech demo to the public, the team has been putting effort into strategically deploying our tech and testing out which solutions will bring maximum efficiency for users.
Linux proof of concept
Our aim is to support cross-platform solutions which provides us with more flexibility on how we run our current infrastructure. This is why the YOM tech team has dived deep into exploring the possibilities of hosting experiences on Linux machines. The team managed to set up the first proof of concept as we ran our Holodeck level on Linux which resulted in running and maintaining high-performance user experience.
SDK
Our SDK has seen the light of day and is now usable by Creators who want to deploy their Unreal Engine experiences. It’s now possible to set up your Unreal level and integrate it with the YOM platform. This includes:
- Spawning players that connect with their Solana wallet
- See your inventories in the experience
- Trigger airdrop within the experience, thanks to blueprints available in the SDK
Pixel Streaming
For those who have followed us through our journey know how revolutionary is the concept of pixel streaming. Pixel streaming is what allows you to stream premium, high-fidelity experiences to any device, which ultimately democratizes access to premium content without the need of possessing an expensive PC.
To assure the highest performance for future users on the YOM platform, our tech team has worked on:
- Revising settings to ensure better performance, while using less data to retain quality
- Optimized automation for people who join our tech demo experience
- Running multiple experiences on a single machine
- Full screen button position fixed to allow a better user experience
Conclusion
Bear markets represent the best time for building. Every week YOM sees new improvements and additions as we are getting ever closer to the highly expected public launch of our platform. These efforts compound over time and will only be noticed once a significant number of hours have been put towards achieving our goal for an open metaverse.
