Introduction

In light of the latest events, we have taken CZ’s advice to focus on creating products that people use and ignore the prices. While the bear market is here to stay, our team is working hard to build the foundation of our product and give life to our core ideas.

This update will be about the progress we made on our SDK which is an instrumental tool for creators and brands to build and deploy metaverse experiences on the YOM platform.

YOM Avatars

There’s a new selection of YOM avatars to choose from when spawning a player. Anyone that logs into a metaspace will get a different look, making multiplayer experiences more personal.

Character Nameplates

As part of our SDK, it is now possible to easily show the connected player’s wallet address above their head. As wallets become an integral part of our digital behavior and digital identity, this nameplate will allow users to distinguish each other in multiplayer environments.

Seamless portalling

This SDK feature has been one of the most exciting for us. YOM now offers the possibility to trigger a portal that spawns in the metaspace.

Domain to domain

The destination on the other side could be another space within the YOM platform but also another Metaverse-like platforms such as Mona, Spatial, or Decentraland that are hosted on different domains.

One click portalling

In addition to the portalling feature, we also experimented with direct fast travel between YOM spaces. During our experimentation, we learned that we could immediately teleport to a new space that runs on another YOM domain at a click of a button.

Blockchain Counter

An additional feature our tech team has worked on in the past two weeks is reading and modifying counters which are stored directly on the Solana blockchain. Sounds a bit confusing, but in simple words, we can transfer real-time data from a metaspace to the Solana blockchain. This allows creators, for example, to keep track of scores, number of votes, or any other numerical aspect. It is a feature that directly contributes to data transparency and puts true data out there on the blockchain, available for others to access.

Multiplayer

In our pursuit to support multiplayer, we started testing out the capabilities of our platform by experimenting with running higher amounts of instances. We will be conducting more tests with higher player counts in the following weeks.

Conclusion

There has never been a better time to be building and proving the potential of the blockchain. At YOM, we are committed to the development of the most scalable, accessible and flexible metaverse infrastructure. We are facilitating the creation of the metaverse as we all imagine it.
