Exploring Our Newest Partnerships
The recent travel that our team engaged in brought a few things sharply into focus, such as there is a massively wide range of cultures that span the globe. Despite differences played up by various media outlets, we have commonalities that are easy to see if you look. First, we all marvel at technological accomplishments. Second, every culture is being represented in some way in the web3 space. And third, no one’s child wants to stand nicely for a picture in front of the Burj Khalifa.
From our perspective blockchain technology is obviously unstoppable and it is causing major evolutions in internet technology. We at YOM have been focused on our corner of this large change, how 3D interactive experiences will be ubiquitous in this next generation of content. Because our DePIN has solved the two biggest hurdles that plagued cloud gaming, latency and cost, we have made not-so-bold predictions of what kinds of interactions will reach the newer generation as they interact online. These various future-casts of how we will interact online guide us to find those partnerships we expect will best help us bring these visions to market. In the past week, we announced two such partnerships.
The first project we found a common vision with was GamerHub. GamerHub is both a game aggregator and an AI technology project. They are integrating advanced AI technologies into the core of the gaming industry with features like player preference and developer assistance, all with the goal of making engaging interactive content easier to construct.
The second project we announced this week was Matrix One. Matrix One is AI infrastructure built to enable the creation of human-like AI characters. It provides developers a set of tools and their end users an intuitive interface, which we could expect will lead to a great deal of user generated AI characters with many personalities and specialized skill sets imbued in them.
GamerHub and YOM
With the rollout of the YOM DePIN and the enabling of interactive content’s spread via web browser, the inevitability of a “YouTube” for games is certainly a reasonable assumption. And where others may jump into that field, we see the potential for GamerHub to grow an audience much faster because of their use of AI in the development process. Because this type of ecosystem will be built on user generated content, the tools to build games and experiences will have to be made very user-friendly. YOM has always believed that the Unreal philosophy matches our vision, but even with their creation tools, the utilization of AI for the planning, creation, and execution on those tools, of the type that GamerHub has been developing, will increase the quality of the content on their aggregator to rise above the rest. The vision of DeAI for Gaming that GamerHub presented to our team was a big reason for our enthusiasm for this partnership.
Matrix One and YOM
As said above and in previous articles, a central thesis that YOM holds is that user generated content will be the powerhouse that explodes the 3D internet into mass adoption. Matrix One is another user generated content tool suite, this one focused on the creation of human-like AI characters and seamlessly integrating them into virtual environments. When the two teams met, we discussed the concept of an AI powered secondary language coach that is available to users at all times, holding conversations and acting as a tutor in the educational process. For any of us who have struggled to learn a second language, this ability to hold conversations is often the missing ingredient, one that Matrix One can help overcome. Again, our team is enthusiastic about this technology and how it will showcase what the YOM DePIN can empower.
Trifecta
When we start to envision how these two partners combine their goals and development on the DePIN that YOM is creating, we begin to see some of the best promise for the coming 3D internet revolution.
First, with the Matrix One tool suite, users, developers, and brands can craft personalities into avatars, either developed from a zero baseline or with the personalities that an IP is already expected to exhibit. Then, to reach a larger audience, they bring those AI avatars into an experience that is built through the tools developed by GamerHub to craft interactions, from simple conversations to complex gaming worlds. Finally, those experiences can be brought to market on the GamerHub aggregation site, all powered on the DePIN built by YOM.
For brands with a large library of IP, we can imagine an experience where a beloved character, Master Oogway as an example, is crafted with the personality he exhibited in the Kung Fu Panda series. The experience could be as simple and serene as joining him under the peach tree to learn and engage him in the game of chess. You would expect he would spend time speaking cryptically during the matches, offering wisdom that, while confusing at times, is also often comforting.
More complex combinations can also be envisioned, experiences crafted by users with the AI assistance in the developer tools GamerHub is creating and populated with a full cast of AI NPCs crafted from Matrix One. An entire open world game at the scale of Grand Theft Auto but set in a steam-punk universe, though requiring hours of a hobbyist’s time to craft, is not out of the question. Depending on how the development workflow is organized, one could imagine a team or guild of hobbyists combining their efforts to create a massive online world that never stops expanding. And with wallet connections enabled through the YOM APIs, the small hosting costs on the DePIN can be covered through transaction fees collected by purchase done in the virtual world. Keep in mind, AI NPCs at that point will likely have wallets of their own.
The Future of the 3D Internet
These examples and many others are goals we can set for ourselves with these partnerships, a direction we can envision our work taking. While it’s important to have a long term vision, it’s equally important to remember that we must walk before we run.
Each of our three projects are in the construction phase, which puts us past the design work and heading to deployment. One or more of us will hit their milestones before the others, but our intention is to keep ourselves aligned, with collaboration and support along the way.
We discovered in our travels the massive reach that blockchain has across cultures, how the technology is sparking worldwide collaboration that transcends boundaries. YOM is excited to be providing the DePIN to host projects built using the technology from GamerHub and Matrix One. The combined skills represented in our projects could certainly find a way to expose that cross-cultural connection missed by those who have not made the same journey and not yet exposed to the same kaleidoscope of people we met. This could be done through the creation of a virtual world filled with AI NPCs from every corner of the world, exchanging cultural concepts, talking about technological marvels, and expressing how really we just want one time for our kids to stand still so we can get a nice picture of them in front of such a tremendous engineering marvel!
