Doubling Down: Moving $YOM Token to peaq

As our collaboration on the Genesis Series is deepening, YOM is thrilled to announce that it is now also migrating its native $YOM token from Solana to the peaq L1 blockchain. While Solana was fun for a while, it got bloated by aggressive marketing of meme tokens, damaging the findability of more serious, yet underground, infrastructure projects.

In the coming few months, we will prepare a 1:1 swap from the current SPL protocol towards the EVM protocol on the peaq network via LayerZero, allowing for cross-chain compatibility. This also means that we would get access to additional liquidity, such as from Uniswap LP’s, 1inch, Rocketlaunch LP’s and Pancakeswap, while retaining liquidity on good old Solana.

“Being on a chain that is focused solely on DePIN is good for many reasons” — Jeff Outlaw, CXO at YOM (Token 2049, Main Stage, Singapore)

What’s Next?

We recently launched our alpha network, running a node in Amsterdam that allowed teams in the US and the Philippines to play a third-person shooter in Unreal Engine 5 with low latency and high performance. This game was streamed via URL, Telegram, and now Chromecast. We did all this on a home gaming PC using an external hard disk running the YOM middleware — exactly how the network will operate once it reaches mainstream adoption.

The network is now aiming to expand with ~ 50 alpha testers owning home gaming rigs around the world and deploying the content to prove it: Domenation, K4 Rally, and … Well that’s for you to figure out by monitoring the channels closely. If you are interested in joining the test program, you can apply here.

More details on the swap will be provided as we hit our targets around the network rollout. With peaq by our side we can amp up on getting the gamers onboarded into the wonders of DePIN, fortify our infrastructure and expand our reach well into 2025 and beyond.
