Community update- 22APR2024

It has been a crazy, hectic trip to Token 2049, made even more crazed by the issues with the flooding at the beginning of week whose effects were felt even to the writing of this update. (CXO is still in Dubai because of flight delays.) Despite all that, the team was able to get quite a lot accomplished, working each day through meetings and engagements pretty much 9 am to midnight each day. It’s safe to say we never missed a moment to meet someone from the blockchain space, talk about YOM, and open up opportunities to network or collaborate if appropriate. We’d like to drop this quick community update out as a first report, and we’ll follow up with more details in the coming weeks.

First a note: Conferences are a great place to make contacts, market our product, gain value market knowledge, and network with other projects. It is not a place generally where deals are signed unless planned well in advance. Most often they are places where deals are started, and this was certainly the case for YOM at Token 2049.

We met with a number of VCs, marketing groups, leading KOLs, and DePIN aggregators and node operators. Each of these offered encouragement as we discussed the structure and goals of YOM and our focused DePIN network. We started discussions with some CEX’s that we had not previously considered, and got advice that complemented our earlier advice on how to launch across multiple CEX’s. Everyone agreed that there are steps to complete before we launch those initiatives.

We learned quite a bit about DePIN aggregators when talking to each one. There are obvious synergies (there’s that word, let’s get it out there) between these services and what we are going to accomplish with YOM. There appears to be a massive opportunity that we had not previously considered to help us scale our DePIN quickly and give our node owners additional opportunities to earn. This is all informing our Node strategy that we’ll be modifying over the coming week.

We met more than a few impressive companies who either are or are working with brands in the 3D experience/gaming space. It was uplifting to hear that, despite the lackluster first wave of ‘metaverse’ vanity projects, brands are still very interested in moving into the space and looking for partners who have a different approach, as we do with YOM. There are follow up meetings to be had with a number of contacts made in this sector.

Token strategy was also a key part of our conference discussions. Each of the marketing groups we spoke to asked for discussions as soon as the conference was over to be able to present to YOM their approach, the range of their services, and basically bid for our business. We have to get those proposals and sift through them all before making a final go.

Finally, it was good for the three of us, CEO, CTO, and CXO to finally get together physically and spend a few days together. Anyone who has started a company knows that trust between partners is hugely important. As the strategy evolves, we have to have the ability to talk candidly and openly about what we feel is right, and trust that we each have the best interests of the project, the company, the community, and each other at heart. Sitting and breaking bread is important to that trust building process. We all agree, for that process alone, the (gruelling at times) trip was worth it.

This week still has us a bit scattered to the winds as most of our return flights were cancelled and needed to be rebooked. We should all be back at our respective home bases by Thursday, and working remotely until then. We are in constant communication with each other and the development team in the meantime.

Look to our social media for more information as all the work this past week bears fruit. We appreciate all of the work that the team who stayed behind has accomplished. And we look forward to getting back to our respective homes and families as soon as the airlines cooperate. 🙂

More to come!
