YOM Leverages the Powerful peaq Ecosystem to Expand Beyond Solana’s Walls
YOM leverages peaq as the backbone for its DePIN that is solely focused on delivering AAA quality gaming content via pixel streaming to web browsers on any device.
peaq, the layer-1 blockchain for DePIN and Machine RWAs, announces the expansion of its ecosystem as YOM, the cloud gaming and interactive experience DePIN, unveils its plan to expand to peaq from Solana. YOM enables gamers to earn crypto from their advanced rigs by lending their idle computational power to its DePIN. As the first step toward integrating peaq, YOM will launch its recently-unveiled Genesis Series as the first NFT Node Mint on the peaq blockchain. It will also explore further venues for more collaborations and integrations in the future.
Expanding the Massive Gaming Market
It is fairly well understood that the gaming sector is the most massive entertainment market based on revenue, eclipsing music, movies, and television combined. Revenue projections start at $312 billion in total by 2027, with emerging markets including metaverse spaces bringing that projection even further.
One segment that held great appeal in the past few years has been the cloud gaming market, with high profile projects such as Google Stadia grabbing attention. This delivery method suggested that high quality games could be streamed from a central server to user devices without the gamer having high powered hardware and software installations. The expectation was that the central server would act as the high end device. This central server model proved to be too costly, too laggy, and too environmentally unfriendly to be sustained.
The emergence of DePIN technology is the revolution that fixes these issues with cloud gaming, and is something that the team at YOM have been pioneering for the past four years. The YOM DePIN pays node operators who provide gaming rigs to the network for their unused GPU cycles, allowing gamers to tap a passive income stream during their idle hours. By leveraging these idle machines, the YOM DePIN can stream AAA quality and immersive experiences to any device, and platform, providing studios with clear channel alternatives besides Playstation, Xbox and Steam.
YOM makes traditional gaming platforms redundant and eliminates the necessity to construct, maintain and upgrade data centers. The latency to the end user is greatly reduced as the decentralized network orchestrates the best connection for the end user. Furthermore, revenues will flow directly back to gaming rig holders rather than in the pockets of the owners of these massive centralized data centers.
Genesis Node Mint
YOM is proud to be a part of the peaq ecosystem and is excited to collaborate with the peaq team on the launch of the first node mint in both the peaq and YOM ecosystems. Holders of the nodes are expected to earn between $2000 and $4000 per year with their gaming rig — an amount that vastly outperforms any existing mining ecosystem. These licenses are expected to go to market in late Q3 of this year, and sign ups are already underway.

YOM is the second DePIN to unveil its expansion from Solana to peaq even before the latter’s mainnet launch, which is slated to take place in the coming months. In April this year, MapMetrics, another project originally based on Solana, unveiled its plan to migrate to peaq. Beyond pulling in Solana projects, peaq have lured in dTelecom, also in April, who were originally building on Arbitrum but announced joining peaq to take advantage of the DePIN native functions.
